The fishing boat parade in Julius Calendar New Year, pray good catch and safety voyage in Miyagi Island Momohara fishing port 

 

旧正月に漁船パレードで安全、大漁祈願　宮城島桃原漁港

 

【宮城島＝うるま】旧正月の１月３１日、琉球王国うるま市与那城の宮城島桃原漁港で大漁と航海の安全を祈願する漁船海上パレードが行なわれた。

 

パレードは漁師の伝統として地域に伝わっていたが一昨年まで途絶えていた。

 

地域住民が「伝統を子どもたちに引き継ぎ、行事で島を盛り上げたい」（桃原隆幸実行委員）との思いで昨年、３０年以上ぶりに復活した。

 

漁港には、大漁旗などを松や竹で掲げた漁船７隻が集まった。

 

午後３時ごろ、漁師や島の子どもたちが船に乗り込み、出港した。

 

約４０分間、モズクやイラブチャー、タマンなどが取れるタマタ岩周辺の海域を回り、ことしの豊漁を祈った。

Miyagi Island - Uruma -  January 31 Julius Calendar New Year, the sea fishing boat parade have been performed to pray the safety of the voyage and the big catch in Miyagi Island Momohara fishing port of Yonashiro Uruma, The Kingdom of Ryukyu.

 

Parade was transmitted to the region as a tradition of fisherman, but it had cutted off until two years before.

 

Local residents restored parade last year that cutted more than 30 years local resident think “Take over the tradition to children, want to boost the island in the event" (Takayuki Momohara Committee).

 

In the fishing port, seven fishing boats is gathered that set out in bamboo and pine and big catch flag.

 

At around 3 pm, children and island fishermen boarded the ship and sailed.

 

About 40 minutes, sailed around the waters of Tamata rock, where Irabucha, Mozuku and Taman can take, and prayed for good catch for this year.
