« J'avais coché cette étape, et j'avais deux options. Soit je tentais de prendre l'échappée, soit j'essayais de terminer dans le groupe des premiers. C'est ce qui se produit à l'arrivée, je suis douzième, juste derrière les sprinteurs. Avant cela, j'ai essayé de rejoindre les échappés, et nous avons réussi à intégrer Martin Elmiger. Je sens que la journée de repos m'a fait du bien, j'ai de meilleures jambes, alors que je sais que pour certains, cette journée casse le rythme. Entre Bourg-en-Bresse et Saint-Étienne, moins casse-pattes que l'étape précédente, les sprinteurs pourraient être à l'arrivée.
