Share prices remain mixed at midday
KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained mixed at the end of the morning session today, supported by gains in selected finance and plantation stocks, dealers said.
As at 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 2.87 points to 1,769.2, after hovering between 1,767.2 and 1,771.08 throughout the morning session.
Finance stocks such as LPI Capital and Hong Leong Bank each gained 18 sen and 16 sen respectively to RM15.18 and RM13.98, while Kluang Rubber and BLD Plantation, added 18 sen and 17 sen each to RM3.19 and RM8.56.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index gained 28.38 points to 16,849.04, the Plantation Index surged 22.55 points to 8,191.22 and the Industrial Index rose 4.82 points to 3,008.48.
The FBM Emas Index increased 24.31 points to 12,348.57, but the FBM ACE Index was down 7.6 points to 4,695.95.
The FBMT100 climbed 27.12 points to 12,109.33 and the FBM 70 Index was 62.35 points better at 14,376.02.
However, market breadth was negative, with 374 losers to 279 gainers, with 281 counters unchanged and 647 untraded.
Turnover stood at 854.97 million shares worth RM823.42 million.
Among actives, Luster Industries eased one sen to 22.5 sen and Winsun Technologies shed two sen to 12.5 sen, while Ingenuity Consolidated earned half a sen to 12 sen and Tiger Synergy added 1.5 sen to 26 sen.
For the heavyweights, Maybank rose four sen to RM10.26, Sime Darby was two sen higher at RM6.71, while CIMB fell one sen to RM8.25 and Axiata Group slipped two sen to RM6.71.
