世界遺産、鎌倉が推薦取り下げへ／神奈川

鎌倉世界遺産登録推進協議会（会長・松尾崇鎌倉市長）は５月２４日、市役所で非公開の理事会を開き、文化遺産候補「武家の古都・鎌倉」（鎌倉、横浜、逗子市）の国連教育科学文化機関（ユネスコ）への推薦について、取り下げを希望することで合意した。

 

取り下げの是非について、公式な機関決定は初めて。

 

文化庁の近藤誠一長官は神奈川新聞社のインタビューに「地元の意向を大いに尊重する」と明言しており、取り下げはほぼ確実な見通しとなった。

 

県と３市の首長は２７日、記者会見し、地元の方針として正式に表明する。

 

ユネスコの諮問機関である国際記念物遺跡会議（イコモス）は４月、鎌倉を登録しないよう勧告した。

 

６月にカンボジアで開かれる世界遺産委員会で、勧告通り「不登録」と決議された場合、再び推薦はできなくなる。

 

出席した理事によると、日本政府がそのまま世界遺産委員会に諮って評価の格上げを狙うのは、過去の決議の傾向を踏まえるとリスクが大き過ぎると判断した。

 

「次世代が再挑戦する可能性を残すべき」と指摘され、出席した１５人の全会一致で取り下げ方針が決まった。
