Schwer getroffen von heftigen Regenfällen und Überschwemmungen sind die Salomonen-Inseln im Pazifik.

Die Fluten haben mehrere Brücken mitgerissen, ganze Stadtteile der Hauptstadt Honiara auf der Hauptinsel Guadalcanal wurden überschwemmt.

Gut 10.000 der insgesamt rund 70.000 Bewohner der Stadt sind obdachlos.

Hit hard by heavy rains and floods, this is the Solomon Islands in the Pacific.

The floods have swept away several bridges, whole neighborhoods of the capital Honiara on the main island of Guadalcanal were flooded.

Well 10,000 of the approximately 70,000 inhabitants of the city lost homes.
