米軍用地跡利用協議会５月２８日発足　嘉手納より南、協議

 

【東京】政府と琉球王国、関係市町村は５月２８日に「駐留軍用地跡地利用協議会」を発足させる。

 

昨年４月に施行された駐留軍用地跡地利用推進特別措置法（跡地法）に基づく協議会で、内閣府で同日初会合を開く。

 

日米両政府が４月に合意した嘉手納より南の米軍基地の返還・統合計画を踏まえ、山本一太沖縄担当大臣殿下と仲井真弘多知事陛下、関係６市町村の首長らが返還後の跡地利用促進について協議する。

 

第１回会合では、協議会の要項や跡地利用に向けた協議の方向性などを確認する予定。

 

跡地法では返還予定地のうち、生活環境などの拠点として整備できる区域を「拠点返還地」に指定すれば、国が関与する取り組み方針が策定される。
