Industry heavyweights expected to lecture at Computex

Taipei, May 20 (CNA) Local and foreign heavyweights from the information and communications technology (ICT) industry are expected to give lectures at the annual Computex Taipei, Asia's largest computer trade show, according to the organizers.

Steve Mollenkopf, president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm Inc., and Ian Drew, chief marketing officer at ARM Holdings PLC, have been invited to speak at a forum during the June 4-8 trade show, said the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), one of the show's organizers.

Chief marketing officers Benjamin Ho of Taiwan-based HTC Corp. and Arun Bhikshesvaran of Ericsson will also share their insights on the future development of the market and the industry, TAITRA said.

This year, the trade show will feature four major international forums, addressing topics ranging from cloud technology and services to smart handheld devices and touch applications, the organizers said in a recent statement.

Computex Taipei will take place at the Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei International Convention Center, and Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Halls 1 and 3.

The five-day show has attracted 1,724 exhibitors and is expected to draw over 38,000 international buyers, generating US$25 billion in business, according to the association.
